Galapagos Islands Travel Update

Galapagos Islands Travel Update, May 2024
The increasing popularity of the Galapagos Islands keeps it at the top of many people’s must-visit lists.
The Galapagos Park Authorities is responding to the boom, particularly hotel-based trips, by doubling the park entry to $200 per person from 1 August 2024.
The entry fees have increased for the first time since 1998. Park authorities will spend the new income on conservation, infrastructure upgrades, community programmes, and reducing Galapagos tourism’s ecological footprint.
It also hopes to reduce the risk of invasive species, ease food scarcity, and protect precious water supplies for locals.
Andean Trails supports the move as part of our commitment to sustainable travel.
How we help protect the Galapagos Islands
The welcome news comes after visitor numbers hit a record high in 2023. We’ve been part of the sustainability efforts for many years, offering complimentary one-year memberships to all our travellers to the Galapagos Conservation Trust.
For those interested in Galapagos cruises, we are thrilled to introduce three new boats on our website. These vessels offer unique experiences, such as the use of biological soaps, complimentary kayak use, and the opportunity to sail on one of the last remaining traditional sailboats.
