We both thoroughly enjoyed the trip and all went very smoothly – pick-ups, tours, hotels the lot - I think I liked the Uyuni tours people best but it´d be close were it a competition. The staff in the hotel in Puno were probably the most helpful of anywhere but all the hotels were clean and comfortable so we´ve no complaints on the accommodation front and all the guides we met en-route were knowledgeable, polite and helpful.

What a stunning part of the Andes, for wilderness, wild life (flamingos, vicunas, viscachas), and vast open spaces, at over 4,000 metres this is not to be missed. The small village of Sajama is supported by vast flocks of alpaca. The volcano towers above the village. Accommodation is simple but comfortable, food is delicious and the hot springs with such a beautiful backdrop are unbeatable. This really off the beaten track.
