Cruise holidays to South America offer some of the best cruising trips in the world, often far from civilisation and crowds.
The wild and varied terrain of South America means there is a cruise for everyone, whether your interest be wildlife, geology, relaxing or all three (and more!).
Iconic Galapagos Islands and Antarctica are both accessed from this continent, showcasing some of the world’s best wildlife in its more pristine environments.
Shorter sailing trips are available throughout the Amazon on beautiful boats, or perhaps you prefer to travel among the fjords and glaciers of Patagonia.
Where you visit, you will aail to remote lands amid scenery of stunning beauty, wildlife and home to ancient and fascinating cultures.
Wildlife-rich Galapagos is a year-round draw, with its tame animals and incredible volcanic scenery combining to make a unique destination.
Patagonia cruises among the glaciers and fjords of Chile, or to Cape Horn, are as historic as they are intrepid, and visit many sites only accessible only by water.
Antarctica, the pristine land, awaits those with the time to head to the world’s last frontier.
The Amazon cruises give you the chance to watch wildlife as they come down to the riverside as you drift in style along the world’s longest river.

Staff were superb and provided an excellent service. This may have been helped by Sue and I being the only two people staying at the adventure camp. The staff in the office in El Chalten were very good, too. We were lucky that the accident happened on the way down the Loma del Diablo and about 1 hour from the road and also lucky that our guide Juan was able to carry Sue down. The cruise was great – fantastic organisation, very professional staff and all very interesting. We landed at Cape Horn but were not able to cruise round it as the weather was too bad.

We both felt our South America holiday was the highlight of 2012, and it was easy to see why people travel halfway across the world to see the sights of Peru and Ecuador. Our highlight overall was probably the Galapagos cruise and we never guessed how fascinated we’d become by the landscapes, the island and sea animal life, and the history of the islands. Guide was excellent in the Galapagos. From an organisational point of view, it was such a relief that everything worked; as we were trying to pack so much in to a tight timescale it seemed risky that had anything gone wrong it could have been difficult to get back on track. All the information given out beforehand was very comprehensive and I can’t think of anything on the ‘we wish we’d known that before leaving’ list. We were shocked how much and how high quality the food on both the Inca Trail and Galapagos cruise was.
